Managing With An Abusive Spouse During Divorce

You may think once you divorce the spouse who may have played the role as the bully in the relationship is gone for good. Not necessarily. Post-divorce relationship most likely will keep you connected if there are young children.
The power and control may no longer exist in the home but it will exist outside the home. It may show up with the children and the parent plan. The bully spouse will complicate the cooperation of the other parent’s time with their children. So make sure that the parent plan is concrete with every detail, such as pick up times and drop off times and specific days including holidays, birthdays, school vacation. If it’s left vague, chances are that leaves room to complicate the situation and the children get caught up in the middle.
